Your Goals to 2019 Done?

What are your goals for 2019? Do they cover all seven areas of your life? What do you feel is the probability of achieving them?

Are they SMART?

REFINE YOUR GOALS WITH THE SMART CHECK:

  • S is for Specific - Your goals should have a specific outcome. For example: ‘A top result in a single area of life is not specific. ‘Running a sub four hour marathon at the state championships is.

  • M is for Measurable - Just saying, "A top result" doesn't cut it. Better is “Finishing in the top 5%.”

  • A is for Achievable - You can surely do things that mere mortals only dream of. But a light touch of realism about your goals is important. It should be something that while seemingly impossible today, you can just about make happen in the future with a lot of hard work and dedication.

  • R is for Relevant - Are these goals you care about? Are they ones you think you should have or are they what others want for you? To be effective, your goals have to be yours alone...ones you want so badly you’re willing to put in the time and effort to make them happen.

  • T is for Time-bound: Set concrete deadlines for each of the goals you’ve written down. Without those dates, you can’t develop an effective plan for success.

Do You Appreciate that You've already got what you want in another form already?

  • Falling into the habit of reaching out, pushes what you want away. Learn to appreciate that the foundation of goal achievement is an appreciation of what you already have.
  • If you don't appreciate it the way that you've got it you won't get it the way that you want it.
  • Appreciation appreciates and depreciation depreciates. 

Can You see it?

  • If you're waiting to see it to believe it, you'll be waiting a very long time
  • You go in the direction of your dominant thoughts so think about what you'd love to bring about.
  • Make the goals sensory as well as material... know the feeling you want to achieve as well as the outcomes
  • Best to use images to remind you exactly what you're working towards
  • Describe to a friend exactly what you're after...
